Infrastructure Investments

Strong foundations build strong futures. Infrastructure investments bring our Water District into the 21st century, answering today’s challenges with technological advancement for a better tomorrow.

Main Renewal Program

Nearly 20% of ACWD’s pipelines were installed between 1940 and 1960. With an average lifespan of 75 years (and with concerns over seismic activity), we are due for a major upgrade to our system. These upgrades will help reduce service disruptions in case of a major earthquake and enhance the reliability of water supply. I am committed to making the necessary investments for seismic upgrades to our infrastructure as part of the Main Renewal and Seismic Upgrade Program. We must be proactive in protecting our system and our customers from major service interruptions.

Online Bill Pay

Before joining the Board in 2016, the issue that I heard about most often was our lack of easy payment options. Customers want choice in how they pay their bill and don’t want to be penalized with excessive fees to do so. We launched our online bill payment system in July 2018 and have waived all fees for processing online transactions. The new system is easy to navigate, saves time, and provides helpful reminders of payment due dates. We’ve also added AutoPay and paperless billing options to make the process more convenient and environmentally friendly. Over 70% of ACWD’s customers have signed up to pay their bills online in just the past 2 years! I am committed to enhancing our bill payment options, and integrating our payment systems with our Advanced Metering Infrastructure and upcoming mobile app.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure

There’s no reason why our customers should have to wait 2 months to see how much water they used in aggregate over the billing cycle. By leveraging the power of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), ACWD can enable customers to track their water usage in near real-time. That’s why I’m strongly supporting our initiative to adopt this technology. With AMI, we can enhance our customer service and make available new services like leak alerts, online access to timely usage measurements, and usage alerts to prevent surprise bills. It will also offer methods of engagement between the District and our customers through a mobile app and updated web resources.

UPDATED Website

When I joined the ACWD Board, I heard from countless customers that they found our web services to be difficult to navigate. Having experience in the information technology and cybersecurity fields, we must embrace a technology-inclusive posture. As part of that effort, ACWD launched a new website in December 2018. The more modern site offers easier ways for customers to access the information that they need to pay their bills, request services from the District, learn about our conservation programs, and much more! Visit the new website here.
